Android announces scam protection on a staggered schedule

GoogleAgents and applications

On October 14, Google announced optional enhanced protection in Messages combining Private AI Compute and on-device Gemini Nano. The schedule also includes wider notification alerts later in the year, screen-sharing safeguards this month on Android 15 and later, and call-forwarding protection planned for early December on selected devices.

The notes limit certain features to Pixel, Samsung or AICore-compatible devices and indicate regional differences. The October 15 Circle to Search tutorial shows how to check a suspicious message, but does not establish that capability’s first launch on that date.

The highlighted protection comparison relies on Google-funded testing. It should remain attributed to the vendor, rather than turning marketing language into an independent conclusion or implying every safeguard is already installed.

Hardware, Android version, region and opt-in vary by feature; uniform Belgian availability is not established.
